Wagner's Mammoth Pool Resort: STORE
Welcome to Wagner's Store at Mammoth Pool. Wagner's Store was created as a supply post for workers building the dam at Mammoth Pool in 1957. A general store, mercantile store and a café provided workers with supplies and food necessary to sustain a working population. Although the café and merchentile store are gone today, the general store continues to serve the public on a seasonal basis. (Picture of store, café & burrows building)
Wagner's Store lies near Chiquito Creek, across from Wagner's Campground and is a mile up the road from Mammoth Pool. The resort is a great place for enjoying the natural wonder of the mountains, and serves as a gateway to the backcountry. Swimming, fishing, hiking, boating, and water-skiing are just a few of the many activities that draw visitors to our resort year after year. Wagner's Store serves as the hub of local activities, and was built during the construction of the dam in 1958, originally to serve the dam construction crews. Waymond and Nelda Wagner started the general store in 1958, and the building reflects the hardscrabble architecture of the fifties.
Wagner's Store has an onsite café, grocery store and unleaded regular gasoline. Come in and have a Mammoth Burger or a Jackass Burger. Breakfasts are available and large groups can be accommodated (give us beforehand notice please). See the menu for items and prices. The grocery store carries general goods, including, ice, sodas, beer (to go only), ice cream, bread with plenty of snack items like jerky, candy and all the things you'll forget…batteries, matches etc. Showers are available to the public when the store is open.
We've got lures, hooks, line and sinkers and other miscellaneous fishing tackle including night crawlers and red worms. All geared toward your successful trout catching expedition.
